On Thursday, November 5, WHS hosted the Illinois Project lead the Way (PLTW) Showcase for state high schools interested in either implementing project lead the way courses and those who are planning to expand their class offerings.
The conference included presentations from PLTW organizers and PLTW teachers from WHS and other schools.
“(We held the conference) in order to help other schools. It allowed other schools to see our PLTW program and all that we offer,” Kevin Muck, Business, Technology and Life Studies Division Head, said.
About a hundred people attended the showcase today and attended presentations from Laz Lopez, principal, Jeff Jerdee, Director of Education to Careers and Technology Education for District 214, and from various WHS PLTW teachers.
“This was the first time I was able to present to an external audience the transition to a STEM school,” Mr. Lopez said.
Students also helped with the PLTW Showcase and acted as a resource for interested schools.
“A lot of administrators like to hear a students perspective on a course and what they feel they’re getting out of it,” Mr. Muck said.
