“You ready to play?” Kevin Lennon, junior varsity coach, shouts to the JV boys soccer team during the last seconds before the game starts.

The Wildcats takes the lead from the start, and Alan Hernandez, senior, almost scores with 32:58 left in the first quarter.

As the game continues, Coach Lennon motivates his team by shouting, “Get aggressive now!”

Once the clock reads 25:56, the Wildcats make the first goal, and later, while the clock reads 25:52, Lee Kresner, junior starting goal keeper, makes the first Wildcat save.

“Beat them there!” Coach Lennon shouts as the Rolling Meadow’s defense starts to block passes for the Wildcats.

Ending the first quarter, the Wildcats lead with a score of 1-0.

“We did good at the beginning, but the finishing (needs work),” Erik Rodriguez, senior, said.

This proved true when neither the Cats nor the Mustangs scored during the second half.

Pedro Hernandez, junior, agrees with Rodriguez.

“We need to learn how to finish,” Hernandez said, “(we need to) be smarter with the ball and put it inside the net.”

Although WHS did not score during the second half, Rogelio Loredo, junior goal keeper, makes the last save of the game with 31 seconds left on the clock.
