SHADES presents annual variety show, “Good Time”


by Erik Hernandez, Staff Reporter The annual variety show, on Nov. 17 and Nov. 18, keeps the tradition of being a way for students to express themselves through acts. “There are many different acts such as acting and singing, they all let kids express themselves,” Daniel Glowa, senior, said. Circus Literary Magazine holds annual fundraiser at bookstore


Photos by Kelly McKewin, Staff Reporter Circus Literary Magazine hosted its annual fundraiser all day on Nov. 10 at Barnes and Noble.  Customers can use vouchers with their purchase, and 15 percent of the sale goes towards Circus.  Circus uses this money to print the magazine.  In addition, students ran activities in the morning, such as story time, crafts, caricatures and cupcake decorating.  Students raised over $400.

Picks of the Month: October

Movie: Paranormal Activity 4 The fourth installment of the massively successful series will follow another individual who is stalked and attacked by a paranormal force.  The movie was released on Oct. 19, and it will follow the events that occurred immediately after the end of the second film.   Album: “Red” by Taylor Swift Taylor Swift will re-emerge with her latest album, “Red,” on Oct. 2 to all major retailers, including iTunes.  The album ventures far from Swift’s previous albums as it fuses elements of pop into the country genre.  The album is expected to debut with large sales.  …

Latino Club fundraises for senior scholarships through Halloween party


Photos by Frida Valdés, Feature Editor Latino Club sponsored a Halloween party Oct. 28, which featured activities for children.  These activities included Operation Snowball games, cookie decorating, a pinata and other Halloween-themed activities.  The funds from admission and donations for this party went towards Latino Club senior scholarships.

SHADES volunteers at annual Make a Difference Day


Photos by Frida Valdés, Feature Editor Students Helping Accept Diversity in Every Situation (SHADES) volunteered at Make a Difference Day on Oct. 27 at Riley Elementary School.  SHADES, along with other community organizations, set up Halloween-themed games and activities for children, including children with special needs.   Students in SHADES ran the prize table and Bozo buckets station.
