Sophomore board fundraises to buy gifts for hospitalized children

The Sophomore Class Board ran their annual charity project during the week of Nov. 12. This year, the board members decided to collect money during all lunch periods in order to buy gifts for children that are in Advocate Children’s Hospital.
“We’re bringing the gifts to the kids next week,” JoAnn Chilver, Sophomore Class Board sponsor said. “We are also going to be getting a tour of the children’s wing.”
The board encouraged all students to donate money to the project and any student who donated one dollar or more had their names written on a snowflake that was hung in the foyer. Roughly $300 dollars were raised this year, and members of the board are going to be distributing the gifts at the hospital soon.
“I am seriously excited because I really enjoy bringing smiles to others faces and this is the best way in my eyes I could ever do that,” Stephanie Chance, sophomore, said. “It feels great and I hope our school does more stuff to help out around our community.”
The Sophomore Class Board has multiple projects throughout the year. This spring, they will plan next year’s first day of school party.
