Never too early for holiday music

by Leo Walker, staff reporter

The debate between playing holiday music too early has been around as long as we can remember. People complain that the radio stations are playing it too early, and they have stopped playing their favorite songs.

Well why shouldn’t they play christmas music early? By playing Christmas music early, it acts as a stress reliever. The holiday season is stressful enough with balancing finding presents for friends and family, keeping up with family, schoolwork and studying for finals. Holiday music gives people that extra boost of hope and happiness that they need to accomplish things. We get more into the holiday season that usually gets taken away from us because of school and other activities.

It also gives our favorite musical artists a chance to sing some of our favorite holiday songs. People such as Mariah Carey, Kelly Clarkson and Michael Buble are remembered as artists with record selling Christmas albums. I mean how awesome does it feel to hear someone like Beyonce sing “Jingle Bells”? It gives all of us a new sense of home. Holiday music does that in general. It shows that even with all this stress, we can relax with something as simple as a song about our most people’s favorite time of year. By playing these songs, it helps raise the spirits of the downtrodden. We need to start playing this music to help ourselves get through stressful and troubling times.
