Freshmen orientation took place from 7:25 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 16. The peer mentors led the incoming freshmen in a tour around WHS, classroom activities and going through the mock schedule. At the end, the freshmen attended an assembly and an activity fair, where students promoted different extracurricular activities and sports.

The Journalistic Writing class is a 45-minute skinny all year round and takes place during first period. Interested students can ask their counselors to place Journalistic Writing into their schedules. Students in Spokesman also meet almost every Tuesday after school for meetings. As a journalism student, students learn to write stories, report, design pages, take photos, broadcast and more.
