William Dussling, District 214 board member, has been selected as one of the five “Friends of Scholastic Journalism” national honorees for 2012 by the Journalism Education Association (JEA).

“Friend of Scholastic Journalism” Award recipients are nominated by JEA members for their support, service, financial sponsorship or personal dedication toward the betterment of scholastic journalism. Dussling was nominated by Stan Zoller, Rolling Meadow High School’s newspaper adviser.

The honorees are known for helping strengthen the values of free speech and civic engagement.

Dussling will receive his honor at an awards luncheon at the JEA and National Scholastic Press Association’s High School Journalism Convention in San Antonio, TX. on Nov. 17.

Other awards Dussling has received include Friend of the Arts, due to his support for Fine Arts in numerous high schools.
