Students successfully represent WHS at IMEA

Piatek discovers passion for drums, plays in numerous bands

Students chosen to represent WHS at IMEA

by Chris Nush, Staff Reporter Twenty-four students from the music department were selected to perform ensembles for the Illinois Music Educators Association’s (IMEA) district VII this fall. After auditioning for IMEA, Kaitlyn Nielsen, senior, felt that her performance did not go as well as she hoped. “It was a catastrophe,” Nielsen said. “I was disappointed because I missed a note in the scales.” When she discovered she had been chosen for IMEA, she said she felt really excited. Band sets high standard for future generations

Band places first in class at Wheaton, Lake Park competitions

by Robert Perales, A&E Editor The WHS Marching Band began practices over the summer in order to prepare for the 2012-2013 season, and their first place finishes show how hard the Wildcats have worked. “We have prepared for this season with countless hours of hard work and practice,” Sarah Rabin, senior, said. “Long days on the hot blacktop in early August are normal for us.” The Wildcat marching band competed for the first time at Lake Park High School’s Lancer Joust on Sept. 8.
