Sophomore board fundraises to buy gifts for hospitalized children

by Kelly McKewin, Staff Reporter The Sophomore Class Board ran their annual charity project during the week of Nov. 12. This year, the board members decided to collect money during all lunch periods in order to buy gifts for children that are in Advocate Children’s Hospital. “We’re bringing the gifts to the kids next week,” JoAnn Chilver, Sophomore Class Board sponsor said. “We are also going to be getting a tour of the children’s wing.” The board encouraged all students to donate money to the project and any student who donated one dollar or more had their names written on…

Prospect Heights tree given to Daley Plaza for lighting ceremony

by Megan Jones, Editor-in-Chief As the 64-foot high Colorado spruce tree was lifted off the ground onto a flatbed, the Theiszmann family of Prospect Heights said goodbye to the 66-year-old tree. This special delivery will be given to downtown Chicago for the holidays this year for its 99th annual tree lighting ceremony. The tree was transported to the Daley Plaza where the ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20. “We are very proud, the mayor especially.
