Art department wins pumpkin contest at Randhurst Village

by Megan Jones, Editor-in-Chief The WHS Art Department won the pumpkin contest at Randhurst Village with 173 votes, while Hersey High School came in close with 165 votes. The department will receive a $1,000 prize. The contest was hosted to celebrate Randhurst’s 50th anniversary. Prospect, Wheeling, John Hersey and Saint Viator High Schools participated.

Randhurst Village hosts pumpkin carving contest

by Paige McCoy, Staff Reporter  A pumpkin carving contest will take place during a fall festival on Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Randhurst Village. WHS will participate in the carving contest, and the winner of the contest receives $1,000 for their school. “Sometimes students are overwhelmed by art, and this is a way of opening it up,” said Laura Taubery, activity adviser. The pumpkins entered in the contest will be displayed during the festival, as well as pumpkins from Hersey, Prospect and Saint Viator high schools. Schools receive $500 for just competing.
