Wheeling soccer looks to continue historic season with another title

by Alex Gleyzer, staff reporter After a close opening round win in the sectionals playoff, the Wildcats will look to continue their success this Saturday in their Sectional championship game against Evanston. The Wildcats will play for their third title this season, and more importantly, they will play for a birth in the super sectionals. “We are used to these games now because we have been here before. Regional Champs look to ride momentum into sectionals

by Alex Gleyzer, staff reporter The Wildcats capped off their Regional playoffs by beating Maine East on Friday night 3-0. The Wildcats ended the week going 2-0 scoring nine goals and allowing zero. Jose Garcia, senior, led the pack by scoring four of the Cats goals this week, followed by Elias Cisneros, sophomore,  and Luis Herrera, senior both scoring two goals and Francisco Arellano, junior, adding one as well. Boys Golf team places 7th at Sectionals: Ferguson, Nauert receive all-conference honors

by Jess Musto, Sports Editor Although this year’s golf season ended with Jack Ferguson, senior, unable to return to State, the team  finished seventh in Conference,  and the team’s seniors having a record year. “I say overall we had better than predicted season,” Ferguson, said. Ferguson and Zack Nauert, senior, tied for eighth at Conference, qualifying them for all-conference honors. The two golfers scored a 76 at Conference.
